EMPOLI FOOTBALL ACADEMY AND INTERNATIONAL SCOUTING
CHILD SAFETY POLICY

Empoli Football Academy is committed to protecting the safety and well-being of children and young persons who interact with our organization. As of February 2022, the NSW Child Safety Scheme was released with the purpose of providing an additional layer of protection to make organizations safer for children.

  1. Purpose: The purpose of this Child Safety Policy is to ensure the safety and well-being of all children involved with Empoli Football Academy & International Scouting. This policy aims to create a secure environment that protects children from harm and promotes their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. 

  2. Scope: This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, contractors, and anyone associated with Empoli Football Academy & International Scouting who may come into contact with children. 

  3. Legal and Ethical Framework: Empoli Football Academy & International Scouting is committed to complying with all relevant legislation and standards related to child safety, including but not limited to the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian Child Safe Standards. 

  4. Key Principles:

    1. Child Safety is the responsibility of everyone associated with Empoli Football Academy & International Scouting. 

    2. All children have the right to be treated with respect and dignity. 

    3. Empoli Football Academy & International Scouting will take all reasonable steps to prevent child abuse and neglect. 

  5. Code of Conduct

    1. Treat all children with respect and dignity. 

    2. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with children. 

    3. Report any concerns about child safety promptly. 

  6. Recruitment and Training

    1. All individuals working with children must undergo appropriate background checks in accordance with legal requirements. 

    2. Provide training to staff and volunteers on child safety, including recognizing signs of abuse and reporting procedures. 

  7. Reporting Procedures

    1. Any suspicions, concerns, or allegations of child abuse or neglect must be reported immediately to the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian Child Safe Standards. 

    2. In an emergency, where there are urgent concerns for a child’s health or life, call the police immediately by dialling 000.

    3. To report non-urgent child abuse or neglect call the Police Assistance Line on 131 444, or your local Police Area Command.

    4. Anyone who suspects, on reasonable grounds, that a child or young person is at risk of harm from abuse or neglect should report it to the Child Protection Helpline on 132 111, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

    5. Kids Helpline is a free, confidential counselling service for young people, and also adults working with and/ or supporting them. Contact them via online chat, email or phone 1800 551 800, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

  8. Response and Support:

    1. Empoli Football Academy & International Scouting will respond promptly and appropriately to all reports of child abuse or neglect. 

    2. Provide support to children and families affected by child abuse or neglect. 

  9. Review and Monitoring

    1. Regularly review and update this Child Safety Policy to ensure it remains current and effective. 

    2. Conduct regular audits to monitor compliance with the policy. 

  10. Communication

    1. Communicate the Child Safety Policy to all staff, volunteers, and stakeholders. 

    2. Ensure that children and their families are aware of their rights and how to report concerns. 

  11. Review Date: This policy will be reviewed annually or as needed to ensure its ongoing relevance and effectiveness.
